Work Meeting, Tuesday, May 26, 2009
PRESENT: Adrienne Pfluger, Bob Royce, Bill Parish, Vice-Chairman; Arnold Henson, Chairman; Judith Bruce, George Christie, Harry Herrick, (Members); Steve Phillips, James Trainor, and Jamie Balliett, (Associate Members).

The Meeting opened at 8:30 a.m.
ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEWS
Caroline Macon, 40 &42 Jack Knife Point Road. This is a request to remove 4 dead red cedars. One is next to the boathouse. The others are on the top of the coastal bank. There are other trees in a narrow buffer to the bank. This is an old house site that is mowed but there is no dwelling on this lot now.
MOTION: A motion to approve this Administrative Review was made by Bill Parish and seconded by Bob Royce.
VOTE: Unanimous.
Norman Eaton, 88 Tonset Road. This is a request for proposed planting of the top third of the coastal bank. Native shrubs are being planted along with a Native Seed Mix. The work will be done by Sam Southworth, who has been advised by Wilkinson Ecological Design. 1/3 of the invasive species removal has been done in this area that is now ready to be planted. This project will proceed slowly, in 3 sections.
MOTION: A motion to approve this Administrative Review was made by George Christie and seconded by Judith Bruce.
VOTE: Unanimous.
Jeff & Joan Talmadge, 14 Fells Lane. This is a request for the proposed
re-planting of the buffer zone with natives to mitigate unauthorized cutting of trees & shrubs. Most of the wood chips will also be removed from the site to allow the native groundcovers to re-establish. The Representative is Seth Wilkinson of Wilkinson Ecological Design.
MOTION: A motion to approve this Administrative Review was made by Bill Parish and seconded by Bob Royce.
VOTE: Unanimous.
LANDSCAPING PLAN
Anthony and Karen Dumont, 86 Tonset Road. This Order for a stairway was conditioned on revegetation under and next to the stairway. The plantings are
coming in well and they would like to expand the vegetation Plan to allow a view. This view-cutting would include removing the invasive vines and a few low branches of 4 oak trees and 1 Norway maple. The Plan includes the pruning down of one small black cherry and the removing of 4 fallen black locusts. A buffer strip will be planted along the top of the coastal bank. A large black oak on the left side of the property with a split trunk that is a danger to the dwelling is also proposed for removal. The work will be done by Jason Ford, the Tree Wizard.
MOTION: A motion to approve this Landscaping Plan was made by Bill Parish and seconded by Harry Herrick.
VOTE: Unanimous.
CHAIRMAN’S BUSINESS
Acceptance of the Land Management Plan for the 5-Acre Sparrow Property Addition to John Kenrick Woods.
MOTION: A motion to accept this Land Management Plan as an addition to the John Kenrick Woods was made by Judith Bruce and seconded by Bill Parish.
VOTE: Unanimous.
Approval of the Minutes from the Hearing/Work Meeting on May 19, 2009.
MOTION: A motion to approve the Minutes from the Hearing/Work Meeting on May 19, 2009 was made by Bill Parish and seconded by Bob Royce.
VOTE: Unanimous.
The Site Visits were discussed by the Commissioners.
